Bayer launches Bromoxynil + Pyrasulfotole herbicide in Canada, which works synergistically with Roundup
Bayer Cropscience recently announced that its new herbicide Huskie™ PRE for early field clearance has been registered in Western Canada, providing a new pre-emergence application option for barley, rye and all wheat fields.
The Huskie PRE combines Group 6 Bromoxynil and Group 27 Pyrasulfotole to provide growers with a new tool for early control of herbicide-resistant broadleaf weeds, specifically targeting resistant weeds including ground skin. Since 2022, herbicide-resistant broadleaf weeds have caused cereal yields to decline by more than 20 percent.
According to Bayer, the tank mixtures currently on the market have limited effectiveness against Group 2 and Group 9 herbicides. The Huskie PRE effectively addresses this problem by providing early control of resistant weeds including groups 2, 4, 5, 9 and 14. In addition, the combination of the Huskie PRE and Roundup Weathermax demonstrated a strong herbicide control rate of more than 93% against ground skin and more than 94% against broadleaf weeds.
The product is formulated in creme oil (EC) and stands out from similar Kiyoda products on the market for its ease of handling, mixing, and cleaning of tanks and booms.
